Elephant Stand Up
In the heart of the savanna, a young elephant calf struggled to rise from the soft earth after a long nap. Its legs trembled as it tried to push upward, but the weight of its body made the task difficult. The calf groaned, rolled slightly, and then pressed its front knees into the ground. Its mother, standing nearby, reached out her trunk gently, touching and encouraging her baby.
The calf tried again. First the front legs stretched out, then the back legs bent clumsily. For a moment, it wobbled and sank back down with a small thud. Dust rose around it, but the mother did not panic. She patiently waited, her massive shadow protecting the calf from the harsh sun.
Finally, with a determined trumpet, the baby elephant planted its feet firmly. Slowly but surely, it managed to lift its heavy body off the ground. It wavered, teetered to the left, then balanced again. The mother let out a low, rumbling call, a sound of approval and comfort.
Standing tall for the first time that day, the calf flapped its ears proudly. Around them, the herd paused to watch. What seemed like a small victory was, in truth, a giant step in the calf’s journey of strength and survival.
